In the 18th century, the influence of the French rococo style could be seen in virtually every art form – even frescoes. The bold colors and sharp lines of earlier frescoes had been replaced with highly detailed scenes done in soft, neutral tones and curvilinear forms. Petit Bouquet Tapestry has many of the features prominent in 18th century fresco style. A central oval encompasses a small bouquet of flowers tied with a ribbon. Outside the oval is a background done in a subtle damask pattern. A border of typical 18th century garlands and medallions completes the piece, which has been executed in elegant shades of sand, beige and taupe. This stylish wall hanging will lend an air of refinement to the most sophisticated home
