3 Reasons to Start Greenhouse Gardening

There is no shortage of reasons to begin a greenhouse vegetable garden. And with no shortage of inexpensive greenhouse options on the market today, you have even fewer reasons not to begin growing this year. Perhaps the least known reason is that by growing plants in a greenhouse, you can increase your actual production and yield over other, traditional in-ground methods of gardening.  You can plant your seedlings closer together and they will still outperform, because greenhouse raised plants are enjoying and benefiting from such controlled conditions.

My favorite reason to garden in a greenhouse is the fact that I can start my seedlings months earlier than anyone I know, and not have to worry about unpredictable spring weather wreaking havoc on tender young plants. By the time most gardeners get their first seeds planted in the ground, gardeners utilizing greenhouses have already brought a few to maturity, and even gotten a small first harvest on a few things. The last big reason to garden in a greenhouse is because it helps you avoid major pest problems much easier, making the term “organic” more than just an unattainable ideal, but a simple and practical reality.
